Finally, Firefox 4 for Android Arrives in Beta Version. Firefox 4 has just joined in the list of web browsers that have recently found their way to the mobile phone market as they newly launched Firefox 4 beta that has been launched for both Android and Maemo.
The Firefox 4 beta for android is more than just a new name for an old product as the browser comes with a variety of cool new features such as the feature appropriately named 'Sync'. Like the name suggests, it synchronizes a user's tabs, history, bookmarks and passwords between the browser on the PC and the browser on the Smartphone. There is also a feature they (Mozilla) are calling the awesome screen which enables users to access their recent browsing history, their tabs and their bookmarks just by tapping on the address bar of the browser.
On start up, the tabs from the user's previous on-line visit are displayed first along with other tabs from the computer and it also comes with a suggested list of add-ons for the browser. The user interface has been separated from that handling the web content and this has greatly improved the browser speed and also its ability to respond to user input even when the browser is loading pages. Pinch-to-zoom, which is now supported on multi-touch capable devices, is also another cool feature that it has. This basically allows you to zoom in by making a 'pinching motion' on the touch screen.
Some of the supported phones are the Nokia N900 and all phones running android 2 and up. Nexus One, HTC's Desire, EVO 4G and Motorola's Droid 2 are just a few of the phones on which the browser has been tested successfully but most other Android based smart phones should also be able to do the same including the Verizon Driod, the milestone.
As of now, the Firefox 4 beta is still quite at the beginning stages of its development and this means that Mozilla will be continuously making updates and improvements on the browser which will be made according to user's reaction on products and features that will be sent to them for testing purposes. Some of the areas that will be improved on include stability, performance, and functionality. This means that even those still working with the previous Firefox 1.1 which was widely popular with the androids may still consider making the switch to 4 beta as this newer version opens up a wider array of possibilities for them.
